Long work headed to Met
Van Gogh, a 1987 mixed media by Houston artist Bert L. Long Jr. with a five-figure price tag has been acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York Long born in Houston in 1940 was a souse chef for a Hyatt Hotel until 1976 when he decided to quit the job and pursue art full-time. Since then Long has exhibited widely in Texas Galleries (Butler Gallery in Houston is his representative) Los Angeles and New York City. He was included in prestigious museum shows such as fresh Paint at Houston s Museum of Fine Arts in 1985 and most recently was spotlighted in a solo exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art in the spring
